    It is known to all that colleges and universities are important bases to provide the society with talents. What kinds of talents should a university offer the society? This is a question worthy to be considered and answered by the society as a whole. Nowadays, an increasing number of educational workers including the have found a common ground: the purpose of university education is to turn out for the society talents with a creative mind. Although we are confronted with many difficulties in saying goodbye to the traditional method of university education, we should make our arduous efforts to stride toward the road of university education reform.
    There is no doubt that the traditional teaching method has many disadvantages. In classrooms in which the traditional teaching method is used, teaching activities are teacher-centered. That is to say, teachers spoon-feed knowledge points to students all the time in class, students are passive recipients of knowledge. They are seldom given opportunities to ask teachers questions. Students’ task is to write down what teachers have said or what they have written on the blackboard. Though students trained in this way can get an excellent grade in their examinations, they have no opportunities to cultivate their own ability to analyze and solve problems creatively.
    To our delight, many institutions of higher learning in China have offered a challenge to the traditional teaching method in class. Teaching activities in them are student-centered. They are encouraged to think creatively in class. They have their opportunities to have group discussions, make presentations by means of ppt in the classroom. Concretely speaking, teachers are merely organizers of classroom activities. Students have played a very important role in classroom teaching. Some teachers have even attempted the method of letting students teach students in solving certain problems.
    The importance of cultivating university students’ creative thinking cannot be overemphasized. In the era of information explosion, it is important and necessary to learn, but more important and necessary to learn how to learn. Only in this way can we make outstanding talents with a creative mind out of a grand army of university students.
