    In China, a TV program which has been listed by Guinness World Records is the Spring Festival Gala, for over 2 decades almost whole population of China keep watching it on the Spring Festival Eve. People love the feel of hilarious festivity created by the programs, and the warm comfort deriving from gathering together with their family.
    However, although a lot of viewers are still faithful to the gala, some people propose that the Spring Festival Gala should be cancelled. They argue that the popularity of the gala has been going down in recent years. The programs on the gala have lost their appeals when people have more diverse lifestyles, and more variety of entertainment. They further point out that considering the huge expenses on organization, the gala is a big waste of money.
    In my opinion, the Spring Festival Gala should continue but needs some changes in form and content. As we know, the Spring Festival Gala has become a cultural heritage for Chinese after twenty years’ development and performance, so it is unacceptable for many Chinese to stop them from watching it right away. However, the Spring Festival Gala needs urgent reforms. With more and more programs similar to the Gala appearing on the national and local TV, the viewers have gradually lost their interests. No one could endure watching almost the same program each year. The Spring Festival Gala should borrow more experience from TV stations home and abroad and perfect its form and content with the consideration of the various tastes of viewers.
