      1922, it won the prestigious Gold Medal of the American Institute of Architects
      for its architect, Henry Bacon. The physical presence of the memorial is awe-

      1865. Stones from various states were used in the construction of the memorial.

      are carved on the outside walls. The north wall of the Lincoln Memorial boasts
