    In this question, you will read a short passage about a campus situation and then listen to a talk on the same topic. Then you wil answer a question using information from both the reading and the talk. After the question, you will have 30 seconds to prepare your response and 60 seconds to speak.
    Now read the following announcement regarding the engineering department’s relocation to an off-campus site. You will have 45 seconds to read the announcement. Begin reading now.
Engineering Department to Relocate
    As of next semester, the Engineering Department will relocate to a new university site situated in the downtown area. With the recent increase in the number of engineering students, the department felt it was necessary to move to a larger location that can adequately support all the department’s students and staff. The new location will include larger lecture halls, extra computer terminals and considerably more workshop space than the current on-campus location. We hope that you will all share our excitement for this important moment in the department’s history.

    The female student expresses her opinion regarding the relocation of the Engineering Department to a new site downtown. State her opinion and the reasons she gives for holding that opinion.
S1 Hey, did you hear the news? The Engineering Department is moving off-campus!
S2 Really? I didn’t know that.
S1 Yeah. From next semester, we’re going to be studying in a new building downtown. It’s going to be bigger than the current building with more rooms and facilities.
S2 Oh, I don’t think that’s going to suit me at all. I mean ... I live just down the street from the main campus, right? I can walk to school in ten minutes. From next semester on, I’m going to have to take a bus to the new building every day.
S1 Yeah, I see what you mean. I guess it’s not as convenient as studying on campus.
S2 Also, what about the library? It’s going to be difficult for a lot of engineering students to travel between where they live, where they study and the library here on campus.
S1 Hmm ... I hadn’t thought about that. That’s going to be a little awkward. But at least the new building will have extra computers we can use. I hate having to wait in line to use a computer between classes.
S2 Yeah ... I guess. But I still think this move won’t suit me. I mean, as well as the inconvenience of having to commute to and from the new location, it’s going to be expensive as well. I’m going to have to buy a monthly bus pass.
S1 Hmm ... yeah, you’re right.
S2 And what else do you know? This move means that we’re going to be separated from our friends who’re taking different classes. It’s going to be more difficult to meet up with them on a daily basis. I really don’t think I’m going to like this move at all.

Furthermore, she will need to return to the main campus to use the library. Lastly, she’s worried that she’s going to see her friends less often than before because they are taking different courses.

    阅读短文的内容是与通知、计划、规定等有关的内容。如果短文还提到了这些内容的优点或理由的话，一定要记住，这样回答的时候就可以写上对话人的意见或者和对话人的意见进行比较。在对话里，特定人物会阐述自己的意见及理由。虽然听时可能会有遗漏的部分，但是不要慌张，针对听到的内容进行回答就可以。回答的时候如果只罗列对话中的内容会稍显单薄，这时就可以充分利用阅读短文中提到的优点或者理由，使答案的结构更加有条理。参考答案里的Although…terminals…就是很好的例子。参考答案有如下三个要点：
    1. commute by bus—more expense
    2. using library—return to the main campus
    3. separated from friends
    另外，参考答案中还有一点需要注意，那就是在说明这三方面的时候，并没有使用一般形式的first，second等，而是采用了furthermore，lastly等连接词。
