答案     At the mercy of the ever-accelerated updating of science and technology, computers have been more and more widely applied in our daily life. As a result, computer games have become one of the most popular recreations for children. Many parents are worried about this and prevent their children from playing computer games because they spend most of their spare time on them. Although it is unjustifiable to say that computer games have little educational value, most of them have undesirable effects on children, especially when they are addicted to them.
    First of all, computer games are harmful to children’s study because they are so attractive that children can become addicted to them. Most children cannot resist the fascinating and magic world computer games create. It is not surprising to find that games shops are always full of teenagers who are enchanted with these computer games. Computer games, which are energy consuming, make students very tired and after playing, it is often very difficult for the children to concentrate on their studies. Students who spend hours playing computer games are often found very tired and their study goes from bad to worse.
    Secondly, children can learn little from computer games, and quite a lot of them are even destructive, due to their violent nature. Although some are designed with educational purpose, they are so boring, and lose children’s interests quickly. That is why children buy lots of software of computer games, but few of them are of educational purpose. Obviously, children’s favorites are the games which provide them with almost nothing but fun. What is more, some computer games today spread violence and sex, so we can imagine the consequences if children are constantly exposed to these kinds of games. It is also the reason that parents become more and more concerned about this problem.
    In addition, playing computer games for a long time is especially harmful to children’s eyes, even to their health. When children indulge themselves in playing computer games, they pay full attention to the games without giving their eyes a rest for a while. In this way, their eyes will be greatly harmed. Further, since they devote much of their time to computer games, they do not have much time saved for physical exercise. Thus, they would lack adequate exercise. Therefore, playing computers games does more harm than good to children’s eyes and even to their health.
    We cannot deny that a few computer games do have educational value, such as improving the coordination of the hands and brain, but the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages. Therefore, something really should be done to keep our children away from the unwholesome ones.
