The Colombian President Alvaro Uribe has vowed to destroy every last coca plant in an area of the country where 29 elite ’troops died in one of the worst guerilla ambushes since he took office.  Visiting the scene of Tuesday’s attack near the town of Vista Hermosa, Mr. Uribe called the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) guerillas "miserable terrorists" funded by the drug trade and vowed to hunt them down. "In the first place it hurts us a lot that in this tactical action we lost 29 compatriots of the army. It hurts us very much. We recognize this setback that pains us immensely, but it doesn’t discourage us." The Colombian troops died in a hail of artillery fire as they provided security for a coca eradication program.
