问题     Nowadays, many coined words such as Chaonv emerge. Some people say these words are simple and concise in form, but others don’t think they are standard enough to be accepted by Cihai. What is your opinion? Write an essay about 400 words to state your view.

答案                 Coined Words Should Not Be Incorporated into Cihai
    Nowadays, with the widespread use of the Internet, many coined words [1] come into vogue. As someone says, the network acts as the [2] midwife of catchwords among which Jiong (dumbfounded), Zhainan (men who are home-confined and addicted to network), Shengnv (spinster), Fangnu (mortgage slave) and Weiniang (the males having female features) are what we are familiar with. Admittedly, these simple and concise words with profound implication [3] add much lustre to the reservoir of Chinese characters. In spite of this, it doesn’t mean that these words are qualified to be the entries of Cihai, a collection of standard Chinese characters.
    First of all, these buzzwords are not mature enough. In the past, it took months or even years for a new word to become accepted and well-known. But now a [4] vivid and vital word sweeps across the globe and gains popularity among the public in several hours or even less time. Therefore, the word may come into being [5] on the spur of the moment and cannot be [6] long-lasting. Secondly, buzzwords are abbreviations, [7] as is often the case, and they tend to convey ambiguous messages. So if a traditional Chinese dictionary such as Cihai includes these entries, it will devote much space to a detailed description of the words, like a description of the origin of the words, to avoid misinformation and misunderstanding. The process is time-consuming and labor-consuming so it isn’t worthwhile for dictionaries to accept these words as entries. Thirdly, compared with the beautiful traditional Chinese characters, some coined words like "Cainiao" and "TMD", [8] to name just a few, are informal and vulgar, and they may mislead the youth and hinder their healthy growth.
    Although I contend that informal lauguage such as Chaonv (supergirl) and Dia (to play the woman) cannot be included in the authoritative general lexicon Cihai, I do not mind these words flooding into every aspect of our lives. Instead I accept these words with an open mind because they fully display the creativity of netizens and [9] add spice to our day-to-day life. Through these words, we may keep abreast of the latest news and the main concern of ordinary people. Therefore, instead of [10]dismissmg these words with a smile, we should refine them and make our daily life colorful by using them.
