   Kimiful (China) : I could not accept a totally "nude" marriage, but partially "naked". I can forget the shining diamond ring and splendid ceremony but my bottom line is an apartment where we could live our lives in a stable environment. Marriage is not just a piece of paper, nor a fairy tale. It’s reality. I totally agree that it cannot survive if there’s no material base. Those sad stories of broken couples come as a warning to me that one should have both psychological and material aspects prepared before getting married.
   Chopsticksll (Singapore): Getting married is easy. You need only a marriage certificate and a wedding photo to certify that you are now husband and wife. But marriage is another stage of life. You are responsible not only for yourself but also for another person and maybe another two more persons, referring to your children. I am not against marriage if the couple love each other dearly, but they should be mature and practical enough to consider life in a marriage. The parents, relatives and friends may not mean very much to the couple but the couple’s needs and the needs of their children (to come) should not be neglected or taken for granted. Would they be ready for it?
   Ththth (the US) : I’m a girl. I support "naked marriage". Marriage is between us. If we think "naked marriage" is what it should be, then that is what it will be. We are in the 21st century; don’t put too much pressure on men to buy you a house and a diamond ring. Don’t you have jobs? Can’t you buy it yourself? I have a job; my boyfriend also has a job. We don’t have enough money for a house right now, but that does not mean we won’t get married. We will buy a house together, meaning we both put our money together to buy a house. This is not the man’s duty; this is both people’s duty to build a family together. Here in New York, many people rent a house, since buying one is too expensive. Who says he needs to buy me a diamond ring? I’m fine with any type of ring. Who says we need expensive cars? Here people take the train to work everyday. Cars can be bought later. Remember the wife needs to work too and not always be demanding the husband’s money.

You rent a flat or house, or buy one; buy and sell a car according to your needs and economic ability—what does any of this have to do with marriage? The artificial barriers to a normal, happy life for a young couple in China and India are simply terrible.
   JeffinChina (Scandinavia): It would be outrageous if a woman here were to demand a house and a car for her marriage. Chinese women should keep this in mind when seeking a Western guy: If a guy indicates he wants a "naked marriage" (or a civil marriage as it is called in the West) it doesn’t mean he doesn’t value you or wants an easy divorce in the future, he just doesn’t want a materialistic wedding. Also, don’t ask him for a house and a car; he will conclude you are only interested in money and he will most likely leave you.

   In recent years,  as the cost of marriage goes up,  many contemporary young people in China choose " naked marriage". Will it become a new trend? People from all over the world are speaking for themselves.
   There are some people who sternly oppose "naked marriage". First, they insist that a mature marriage should have some material foundations, such as an apartment at least. What’s more, a stable environment to secure children’s growth is a must. However, there are also some people idealistic enough to claim that they don’t need a house, a car or a diamond ring to prove their love. Some of them claim that it takes the efforts of both sides to build a family so men and women should work together and buy cars or houses later. Others declare that a materialistic wedding doesn’t secure anyone a safe marriage. So it is more realistic to arrange a wedding according to one’s own economic ability.
   Putting the topic into the larger social context, I would advise young couples to lay less stress on the forms and materials of the wedding. Firstly, love should always be the top priority for marriage. Money, or a house, or a car, or a diamond ring should never override love, the core spirit of marriage.   Secondly, no material things can ensure you the happiness, no matter how luxurious they are. A materialistic wedding doesn’t ensure anyone the security of marriage. True love has nothing to do with materials. Finally, the greatest significance of marriage is that the couples choose to work together and strive for a better future. Parents should also be cautious about helping their adult children. The one who runs in the rain runs the fastest and the fruit one picks for himself is the sweetest, as the sayings go.
   Anyhow, to marry for love is the ultimate goal of marriage. Marriage is a lifetime commitment between the couple, which requires love,  responsibility,  and a lot of tolerance,  with the exception of whatsoever forms of the wedding.
