     The internet plays an important role in our life. It makes the world smaller and people closer to each other. Through surfing on the net, people that seemed so distant and unreachable to each other in the past have become neighbors. The internet is also the most convenient and efficient way to access to information. Every hour, people of different ages and professions seek various kinds’ information on the net. Moreover, for modern people who are under a lot of pressure at work or at home, the net has also become their private repose. They chat with people known or unknown to them, discuss their favorite topics, seek suggestions from the experts on the net, and even make friends there.
     However useful the internet is to us, it has its own problems. First, some people are so enthusiastic about the net that they lose themselves in the world invented by the net. Some of them even forget their true identity in real life. Second, the net sometimes offers information of a larger quantity and wider range than what it is expected, therefore, it takes more time to seek out useful information. Last and the most importantly, the internet has created a new lieu of crimes. For example, officials have found their secret documents floating about the web because it is difficult to prevent their computer from being invaded by criminals.
     In fact, nothing is flawless in the world. Since the internet has contributed and will contribute greatly to our life, we should make full use of it while minimizing its negative effects. With stricter administration of the net and the enhancement of morality, the internet can create a better world for all of us.
