For many people today, reading is no longer relaxatioa To【C1】______their work they must read letters, reports, newspapers... In getting a job or advancing in one, the ability to read and comprehend【C2】______can mean the【C3】______between success and failure. Yet the unfortunate fact is that most of us are poor readers. Most of us 【C4】______poor reading habits at an early age, and never get【C5】______them. The main【C6】______ lies in the actual stuff of language itself—words. 【C7】______individually, words have little meaning 【C8】______they are strung together into phrased, sentences and paragraphs.【C9】______, however, the untrained reader does not ’read groups of words. He laboriously reads one word【C10】______, often regressing to read words or passages. Regression, the【C11】______to look back over【C12】______ you have just read, is a common bad habit in reading.
