There is no place in today’s complex society where man is completely isolated from textile fabrics. They clothe him, protect him, decorate him, and provide him with many hours of enjoyment. Fabrics may cover the furniture and floors in his home; they may curtain his windows. Textiles are found in kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and living rooms. If the prospective consumer knows something about the textile he wishes to purchase and if the merchant and the sale staff know something about the products they are selling, sales involving textile products can become relatively intelligent transactions.
Textile fibers have been used for many things, and man is continually finding new applications for these "building blocks". [16A]Fibers are used in the creation of clothing, home furnishings, and household textiles; [16C] they are used in the building trades; chosen for insulation on appliances; selected industry for such products as filter cloths, pulley belts, and so forth; [l6D]found in all forms of transportation; used in nearly every type of activity or situation conceivable, including man’s conquest of space.
