What does the woman say about the colour of violet?
M: So tell us a little about the colours, Emily. Which is your favourite?
W: Ahh. It depends on how I’m feeling. But violet is very powerful for me. It’s very strong, creative colour. Leonardo da Vinci used it to meditate and Beethoven had violet curtains. So it’s a good colour to wear when you’re feeling inspired and creative. M: And what about orange, my favourite?
W: Orange is a very energetic colour. People who are attracted to orange are people who love life. It’s good if you’re feeling depressed, or demotivated. If you’re a bit down or feeling lonely, just a little orange goes a long way. All you need is an orange scarf or a pair of socks, and you may feel the benefits straight away. Don’t overdo it, though—it can leave you feeling restless.
M: Oh. Right. So what should you do if you’re feeling restless?
W: Perhaps try some blue. It has a good calming effect on people. You can prevent nightmares by visualising blue, and it’s a good colour to wear if you’re feeling frightened.
M: Yeah?
W: Or green. You wear this when you’re happy with yourself, and feeling confident. It’s a good colour if you’re feeling adventurous and optimistic.
M: Oh. That’s good to know. And red? Red must be one of the most powerful colours, is it?
W: Yes. Wear red if you’re low on energy or feeling cold. You can even feel warmer simply by visualising this fiery colour, but don’t wear red if you’re feeling agitated or nervous about something. People who like red like to be noticed. Like people who buy red cars, as a sex symbol. They actually receive more speeding tickets, because they drive fast to attract attention. They tend to be rather over-emotional, too: think about the associations of red in Latin cultures.
M: Yes, hot-blooded! And what about black?
W: Ahh. Black. Women wear this to be seen as mysterious and powerful. But many teenagers go through the "black stage"? We tend to wear it when we’re feeling grumpy and in a bad mood.
