    Cheating on exams is nothing new. As long as there have been examination rules, there have been people intent on breaking them. What’s alarming now is how widespread and rampant the practice has become. There is always somebody doing it in various examinations. Some students even say that if you don’t you feel like a chump.
    Exam cheats have bad effects. In China, examinations are an important method of measuring talent and evaluating qualifications. So that should be a fair play. If a student gets good grades through cheating, say, peeking at a neighbor’s test paper or receiving test answers via text messages, that’s unfair to the students who take the exam through their own efforts. And at the same time, the examination loses its original meaning.
    To curb exam cheating, first, schools should reinforce moral education and tell students that "You should not cheat on exams. That’s immoral". Second, schools should ban all cell phones, cameras and other gadgets during exam hours. Finally, schools should take various measures to punish the students caught cheating.
