    Recently, singers and the music industry, especially record companies have some disputes over problem of digital downloads. It is conceivable that MP3 downloads contribute to the decline in record sales because the Internet users are provided unlimited access to a wide variety of music. However, some people maintain that downloading music free online will illegally harm the music industry’s benefits.
    In the meantime, others argue differently. They hold that downloading music free is not only a blessing for music lovers, but also a great opportunity for music labels to develop new revenue streams made possible by the Internet. For one thing, the decline in record sales is the result of many complicated factors related to the record industry. For another, the free music online will actually popularize the songs and boost the growth of the music industry.
    From my perspective, free downloads of copyrighted works without authorization can be considered to steal from musicians who have spent much energy producing music. I don’t think stealing is a good behavior to show appreciation for their works. In short, free downloads will cause fatal harm to the recording industry and therefore should be banned.
