    As the saying goes, "Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there." On the long journey of our life, we will definitely need a wealth of abilities to solve mountains of problems. But it is good character that keeps us overcoming difficulties. So we can say that character education is more important than developing abilities.
    Character education plays an important role in individual discipline as well as the development of the society. For an individual, it prevents him from being selfish, indifferent, conceited, dependent or impolite in daily life. What’s more, it teaches him how to learn efficiently, how to live a colourful life, how to strive for the best, and so on, which can make his life meaningful and valuable. For the society, it promotes social harmony and advances social civilization.
    In conclusion, one should not only acquire various abilities to survive, but also pay much attention to shape good character, including qualities of honesty and filial piety. Character education should also be accented at schools. One may achieve a success by ability, but he may achieve successes by good character.
