答案     A great many people prefer to set off firecrackers. Firstly, they regard it as a Chinese tradition to celebrate important festivals, associating lots of bangs of firecrackers with wealth, prosperity and good luck. Besides, it is believed that explosions from firecrackers can drive away demons or evils. Moreover, firecracker manufacturers and sellers can make a profit from it.
    On the contrary, the vast majority of people argue that firecrackers should be banned completely. First and foremost, it is dangerous to set off firecrackers, which would cause a lot of accidents and even put people’s life in great danger. What is more, the environment is greatly polluted by the loud explosion.
    Generally speaking, it is impossible and unrealistic to ban firecrackers for the time being, but some measures should be taken to lessen its bad effects. For one thing, the government should set strict standards for manufacturers to make smaller and less powerful firecrackers. For another, the designated areas and time limits for setting off firecrackers can never be ignored by the public.
