A study of long-term friendships found that friendships formed during college years stayed close 20 years later, if they scored highly in closeness as well as communication to begin with. "At college you can cultivate close friendships because you’re in such close【C9】______for sustained periods," says Glenn Sparks, Purdue’s professor of communication.
