   When faced with the choice between majoring in science or humanities at college, a great many students would be at a loss. Personally, I prefer the former to the latter with the following two reasons.
   Firstly, science includes different branches, such as mathematic, physics, chemistry, it could make great contribution to the development of material civilization of our country. It is the foundation of industry. Based on scientific technology, we are able to make various kinds of electronic products, mechanical bridges and buildings, which could enrich our horizon and bring much convenience to our life. Secondly, with the help of science, the discovery of many useful medicine and inventions of new methods of treatment have changed radically the whole world. Thirdly, humanities are also of great importance. However, they can be obtained by accumulating in our daily life.
   All in all, science counts a lot for the development of our society. But we should also attach great importance to humanities. Only in this way can we live in harmony both mentally and physically.
