    Recently, many classic works have been adapted in many ways, which has aroused great concern. In those adapted works, all plots are changed and some characters are distorted. For example, in the TV series adapted from
    Journey to the West, monk Tang even falls in love with an enchantress.
    This phenomenon does more harm than good. For example, Jia Ling, a famous Chinese comedian, adapted the image of the heroine Hua Mulan who was brave and filial. Mulan disguised herself as a male soldier to take her father’s place in the conscription army. However, Jia Ling played Mulan in a TV show in a timid, lazy and greedy image. It damages the Chinese traditional culture and hurt Chinese people’s feelings. At the same time, it misguides the audience, especially the teenagers.
    Therefore, the real classics should be presented on the bookshelves to lead people to appreciate the real part. To curb this phenomenon, I think two measures should be taken. First, it’s necessary to change the way people treat classics. Second, the concerned authority should check and ban TV series, shows or books that spoof the classics.
