   The value of perseverance is clearly impressed on us by W. Clenient Stone’s remark, "Try, try, try, and keep on trying is the rule that must be followed to become an expert in anything." It would never be possible for one to master anything without making efforts constantly.
   Firstly, expertise in any field nowadays inevitably involves massive amounts of information. It necessitates a long time of accumulation to be an expert in even a comparatively narrow domain. Sustained efforts are required to keep updating the information in the era of explosive information. Secondly, few are born to be experts. It is our ability to learn that enables us to acquire the knowledge and skills needed. In the learning process, time and effort arc indispensable since our learning capacity is always rather limited compared to our leaning objectives. Finally, experts are expected to contribute to human civilization by doing some pioneering work. Due to some foreseeable setbacks and failures, nothing but perseverance can lead us to the final destination of success.
   In conclusion, a necessary command of massive amounts of information, the comparatively limited capacity for the moment and the foreseeable difficulties ahead combined makes it a rule to persist in trying for anyone who intends to become an expert.
