    I am a senior majoring in English and I am writing to extend my heartfelt thanks to you for providing a series of English culture salons this week.
    As to me, the most beneficial part of the cultural salons is the thought-provoking talk on a comparison between Chinese and western culture delivered by Professor Wang. It is through the talk that I come to know the distinctive features of western culture and more importantly the value of Chinese culture in a globalized world. Besides, I have always been fascinated by English poetry. Thus I really appreciate the informative talk on English poetry by Professor Nan. Apart from tracing the history of English poetry from Saxon times to the present day, Professor Nan discussed the essential components that make a good poem and gave guiding principles to appreciate English poems.
    Again, please accept my sincere gratitude. I genuinely welcome more similar cultural salons held by the Students’ Union.
