M: Iris, is that you? Of all the places to run into each other, I can’t believe that it’s happening here.
W: Gaven! It’s been such a long time since I last saw you.
M: What are you doing here? Don’t tell me you’re sick.
W: Oh, no. I’m just here getting some medicine for my flat-mate. She caught a cold last week.
M: Oh, that’s too bad. I hope she feels better soon. I’ve been meaning to get hold of you for some time now. My sister’s just returned from a three-week trip to Europe and she took lots of pictures. It’s so beautiful there. You must see the photos. How about coming over for dinner this weekend? I’m sure she would be delighted to see you, too.
W: Oh, I’m terribly sorry. It’s my parents’ 40th anniversary this Saturday, so I’m going home for a big celebration. All my relatives are coming for the event. I’m also excited about seeing my family again. I’ll have to leave straight from work on Friday night because it takes about six hours to get to Miami from here.
M: Miami? I thought you were from New Orleans.
W: No. I just studied at the university there.
M: Well, please say congratulations to your parents for me. I hope you have a safe trip there. Traffic can be bad on Friday nights, so please be careful. Be sure to give me a call when you get back from Miami. We’d love to see you.
