(1)The Chinese Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is the most important holiday in China, equal to Christmas of the West. There are many features about the Chinese Spring Festival, which distinguishes it from the other festivals.
(2)One is seeing off the old year and greeting the new. The other is family reunion. As to the first feature, people will do some cleaning before the festival and preparing some food for ceremony of the Spring Festival. In general, people will paste couplets on the doors and hand out red packets when visiting their relatives. After putting up couplets on the doors on the Lunar New Year’s Eve, the last day of the twelfth moon in the Chinese lunar calendar, people travelling or residing in a place far away from home will return back to their home to get together with their families to have family reunion dinner.
