Announcement from [Student] Services
The Sybert University [Student] Services Department is happy to announce a new transportation option for students. Starting next week, city bus B. 15 will be altering its route to include the Sybert University campus. The bus makes several stops in the downtown area, so students will now be able to easily get to the movie theater, shopping mall, and other downtown attractions. In addition, students are eligible for a discounted bus fare with a valid university ID card. Bus #15 will come through campus every 10 minutes on weekdays, and every 20 minutes on Saturday and Sunday.
W: A bus from campus to downtown? What a good ideal There’ve been so many
times when I wanted to go See a movie but I had no way of getting there.
Having a bus come through campus will be great.
M: Well...I’m not so sure. That bus is gonna come ’right by our dorm, and...have
you ever heard those city buses? They’re not maintained very well and they’re
really loud. Not to mention {he pollution they give off.
W: No. Actually, I don’t know anything about the city buses. If they do make a lot
of noise, it could disturb everyone here in our dorm. But maybe it’s worth it for
the convenience. And it’ll be cheep, too, because we get that discount.
M: Still, though, the cheapest way to get downtown is just to walk. It’s a little far,
but I do it all the time. I probably won’t even use the bus.
W: That’s true, I guess. Even the discounted fare might add up to a lot if you take
the bus all the time.

[Topic] The man disagrees with the idea about altering the bus route. He gives
several reasons why he thinks the city bus plan has problems.
[Reason 1] First of all, he mentions that the city buses are very loud and cause a lot of
pollution because they aren’t properly maintained. He says that the new bus
route will make the area around the dorms noisy and dirty, so he doesn’t like
that.
[Reason 2] Also, he suggests that it’s a waste of money for students to catch the bus
downtown. Even though students get discounted bus fares, he thinks it’s
better just to walk anyway. Overall, he doesn’t even really see any benefit in
changing the bus route.
