B：好的，我不知道你当时看到的是哪一个剧种，这里我就给你介绍一下中国最出名的剧种京剧吧。中国有超过360种地方剧种，其中京剧是中国的国剧，虽然它的历史只有200年的时间。虽然被称作京剧，但是它的起源并不在北京，而在中国安徽省和湖北省的中南部。

B：不是的。京剧的历史可以追溯到1790年，当时四个徽班第一次来到北京给清朝皇帝乾隆庆祝80大寿，他们此行立刻引发轰动，遂留在了北京。1828年的时候，一些著名的湖北汉剧演员也来到北京。京剧由此逐渐发展起来。

Among over 360 ancient local operas in China, Beijing Opera is known as the national opera, despite its 200-year history. Although it is called Beijing Opera, the origins of it is not actually in Beijing but in the central and south areas of Anhui and Hubei in China.

B: Not exactly. Beijing Opera is purely Chinese opera form dating back to the year 1790, when the famous four Anhui Opera Troupes first came to Beijing in celebration of the 80th birthday of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. The tour was a hit so the troupes stayed. In 1828, some famous Hubei Opera Troupe players came to Beijing. That is how Beijing Opera started off.

B: There are five main characters in Beijing Opera, and they are Sheng, Dan, Jing, Mo, and Chou. Sheng stands for a main male role, Dan for a young and beautiful female role, Jing for a painted-faced male role, and Chou for a male or female clown.
