问题     Some people prefer to spend time with one or two close friends. Others choose to spend time with a large number of friends. Compare the advantages of each choice. Which of these two ways of spending time do you prefer? Write an essay of about 400 words. You should supply an appropriate title for your essay.
    In the first part of your essay you should state clearly your main argument, and in the second part you should support your argument with appropriate details. In the last part you should bring what you have written to a natural conclusion or make a summary.

    Friends are people who support us through our lives. Some people prefer to have one or two close friends. However, others prefer to spend their time with many friends. I think that the number of friends depends on one’s personality. Personally, I prefer to have a couple of close friends. In this essay I will analyze both cases and present my view in favor of having just one or two close friends.
    On one hand, when we spend time with several people, we can share our ideas with and collect information from various different sources. It broadens our horizons and makes us aware of different points of view on any subject. It also makes us socially more active and as is commonly said, "Man is supposed to be a social animal." However, the joy attained from the company of several friends does not require affinity among the group members. Only being gregarious and outgoing is enough to create a pleasant ambiance for everyone.
    On the other hand, being with a couple of close friends helps us to achieve a level of intimacy not possible in a large group. We develop a bona between us that is hard to break. We share an understanding, which leads to high levels of loyalty. Although the number is small, there is a special and unique affinity and cordiality in the atmosphere that wouldn’t be there when we are with a group of friends. Although with few people around the scope of our activities get limited, it is compensated by the happiness and bliss we receive from the warm atmosphere.
    What’s more, with a couple of close friends around, we feel no stress or burden. We don’t really have to do anything in particular together. For us the significance lies in the fact that we are together, sharing our time. Although I also enjoy spending time with a group of friends. I dare not compare the elation I receive from my close friends with the fulfillment I get from the party of more than a few friends. As the saying goes, "I can spend hours without uttering a single word with my friend and I’d have the best conversation ever."
    Due to these reasons, I prefer having a couple of close friends. I am sure that my close friends will always help me and never betray me or turn me down whenever a situation becomes unmanageable.
