    Now people in increasing numbers are coming to recognize the importance of team spirit. In my opinion, there are two main reasons for this: one is that some work cannot be finished by a single person’s ability; the other is that a competitive society cannot be separated from cooperation, namely, the team spirit.
    After all, one’s ability is limited. Whatever you do, as long as you are cooperative, the achievement will be much greater than that you have made with your own effort. For example, if a construction project is totally left in the hands of a single person, some irreparable damage may come into being because his planning is inevitably short of perfection. As the saying goes, "Two heads are better than one." On the other hand, today we still have many challenges before us. For instance, medical science faces the challenges of conquering many diseases which still attack human beings; engineers and planners must build new cities, design and produce new kind of transportation; scientists must develop new forms of energy. Only based on the team-work can we meet these challenges.
    Moreover, in a society submerged in diverse competitions, cooperation between members of a team or teams can guarantee a success. With social competition becoming more and more furious, the close relationship between competition and cooperation is increasingly recognized. Nobody can afford to deny the importance of cooperation if he expects to make himself and his team more competitive. Take a basketball game for example, while one team is competing with the other team, each player of the team is cooperating with his or her teammates. In most cases, we can’t go on competing without cooperation. Only together with cooperation will competition help us a lot in obtaining our goals and push us to strive ahead for success. To make this human world more beautiful, we should lay equal stress on competition and team spirit.
    The reasons we have advanced justifies the unmistakable conclusion that team-work is the foundation of achieving success. Surely, these reasons are worth considering in any discussion about team spirit. It is, therefore, my philosophy of life to be cooperative in my undertaking.
