    Human beings are social animals: we live in groups; we work in groups. As John Donne said, "No one is an island". Because of this, the importance of having a sense of social responsibility is fairly prominent.
    First of all, the sense of social responsibility is beneficial to our social cohesion. Some of us complain that our society is rather fragmented, and not as cohesive as it used to be. One major cause of this fragmentation is that we only mind our own business, without the sense to serve others and the society. If, however, driven by the sense of social responsibility, we would offer our helping hands to those in need, and we would feel nice and warm in the society. Secondly, the sense of social responsibility will make us behave ourselves in public, which is helpful for building a better society. When we walk around major cities, we could invariably notice that some people spit and litter in the street These people, I dare say, are blind to social responsibility and put their needs before a clean and tidy public environment If their sense of social responsibility is enhanced, they would be more civic-minded.
