My View on Playing Internet Games
Those born in 1990s and afterwards are considered "digital native", which means they are born into an Internet age. Usually, they are restricted and told off by the "digital immigrants", who were brought up without the influence of the Internet The clash of opinions is more prominent when it comes to playing Internet games. As a digital immigrant myself, I think that playing Internet games is harmful for teenagers.
First of all, Internet games will get teenagers distracted from their worthy endeavors. Teenagers are weak in self-discipline and tend to wander off the rightful business. That is why we should keep them away from Internet games which consume their time and energy. We should guide them to devote themselves to reading, traveling and other meaningful pursuits. Secondly, addiction to Internet games will be harmful to the development of social skills. If we allow teenagers to get trapped in the virtual world, they will turn into "homies", confining themselves in their rooms and having no contact with the real world. What’s worse, there have been many reports about Internet game addicts, with twisted personality, who killed or attempted to kill their parents and friends.
In conclusion, we should discourage teenagers to play Internet games and make sure they develop a healthy personality and frequent communication with people around them.
