The United Nations top diplomat in Afghanistan is calling for peace talks with the Taliban’s top leaders. Kai Eide spoke to reporters in Kabul. He said only talks with top Taliban leaders could end the country’s conflicts. Afghan President Hamid Karzai has repeatedly called for peace talks with the Taliban. Taliban leader, Mullah Omar has rejected the offer. The Taliban leader says no talks can take place as long as the American-led coalition forces remained in Afghanistan.
