Dear Sirs,
    I have seen your advertisement in this morning’s paper for a trainee service mechanic in your company. I would like to apply for this post. I graduated from a vocational high school one year ago. After graduation I worked as a car mechanic, but I disliked the job, because it mainly consisted of routine servicing. What I am interested in is the work of clocks and watches and other precision instruments. My hobby is mending clocks and watches for my relatives and friends in my spare time, so I am quite familiar with the work of clocks and watches.
    I notice that your advertisement says that the applicant appointed will later be sent to a watch-making factory in Switzerland for advanced training. I shall be only too glad to have such a chance.
    Enclosed are testimonials(证明) from my former principal and from my present employer.
    I am available for an interview at any time.
