    According to the figures in the table, the consumption of grain, which is the main food of Chinese people, is 49% in 2008, but it decreases to 45% in 2012. On the contrary, the consumption of milk and meat increases to 13% and 21% respectively in 2012.
    These figures indicate some changes in people’s attitudes towards living standard and life style. Since China began her economic reform in 1978, various kinds of foods have enriched the food market. Milk and meat, which were seldom seen on people’s dinner tables before, have now become common dishes in Chinese families. Accordingly, the decreasing consumption of grain shows that Chinese people have more and more varieties of main food to choose. From the table we can see that Chinese people’s diet is more balanced than ever before.
    With the publicity of living a healthy life, further changes will occur in people’s diet. In the future, the proportion of fruit and vegetables is more likely to increase.
