    Ironically enough, graduates from vocational-technical schools have better adaptability than the ones from famous university today. Recently, former president of Peking University points out that China has no world-class university. This comment arouses heated discussions and reveals many problems in China’s college education.
    The following may be the possible reasons. Firstly, the significant increase in entrance rate has aggravated students’ anxiety over their studies. Meanwhile, high school graduates, lack of good self-control and released from the pressure of teachers and parents, can not study independently in college. Another reason is too much emphasis is put on difficult problems, resulting in students’ neglect of basic theories. In addition, the curriculum is too large to be crammed into a 4-year college teaching. The knowledge mastered by most students is only the tip of an iceberg.
    My suggestion is that colleges should employ a practical-oriented education policy. Students should take part in social practice and get more contact with the outside world.
