Alan: I’m really worried about Jeremy these days. He looks tired.
Ben: He’s a workaholic, you know. Works all the time, night and day.
Alan: I know he puts in a lot of hours. He’s always here no matter what time I arrive.
Ben: The boss seems to think it’s a good thing, but I’m not so sure.
Alan: When does Jeremy get time to relax?
Ben: That’s just the point, he doesn’t. He’s always thinking about work. It’s mined his life. He never saw his children because he was always home late and he left early in the morning.
Alan: What happened?
Ben: He and his wife separated. She’ll probably get a divorce.
Alan: That’s high price to pay.
Ben: I guess some people can’t see the value of a balanced life. If you try to talk with Jeremy, he’s always more comfortable with talking about work, he can’t really talk about anything else.
Alan: That’s kind of sad.
Ben: The trouble is, Jeremy doesn’t see it that way. He just gets lots of work done and he actually enjoys it.
Alan: It will tell in the end though. He’s putting too much stress on himself. There’s more to life than work. If your life consists only of work then I believe there’s a psychological problem.
Ben: That’s possible. Maybe his boss should have a talk with him.
Alan: But who is going to tell him to do that?
