The organization is based on a simple idea and it’s working for New York’s restaurants and New York’s hungry.(1)The club that Lee was involved in, in college, brought leftover dining hall food from campus to the homeless shelter, and he thought that the concept could be applied outside the borders of NYU.(2)In Manhattan alone, there are about 100,000 restaurants. Their strategy is to work with as many restaurants as possible and get that food waste to people who need it. Their group has no minimum food requirement. They pick up any amount of food, no matter how small it is. Because that small amount can feed someone.
