    The shortage of natural resources has aroused a worldwide concern, for with the rapid growth of population and industry, the more resources man uses, the less there will be left for the future generations.
    China is also facing such a problem. Although in almost every province are founded natural resources, the exceptionally large population makes our country a resource-deficient country. The natural resources per capita is rather limited. China’s per-capita arable land, for instance, accounts for only one-third of the average level worldwide. Moreover, our country’s natural resources are not structurally balanced. In terms of mineral resources, what we have is only a vast reserve of coal. And the situation is further complicated by the increasing amount of individual consumption.
    To ensure a sustainable development it’s time that we took measures to cope with the relationship between human demands and natural resources. And also we should educate all the people to practice economy when using water, fuels and other resources. And above all, the government should take actions to monitor the exploitation of resources.
