    China is a developing country which is now confronted with the dual task of developing the economy and protecting the environment. Proceeding from its national conditions, China has made environmental protection one of its basic national policies and regards the realization of sustainable development as an important strategy. It will be carried out across the country with large-scale measures for pollution prevention and control as well as ecological environmental protection.
Passage Two:
    By the year of 2008, tourism is expected to be the 2nd biggest industry in the country. Between 2000 and 2005, the number of overseas visitors to China grew by 80%. In 2006, there were 23.4 million overseas visitors. An estimated 35% of visitors came from Europe and North America, and the rest from Asia and other parts of the world. Business travel accounts for about 1/2 of all overseas tourism revenue. Chinese tourist attractions include theaters, museums, art galleries, heritages and historic sites.
