Second, our critical thinking skills will be developed along with the reading skills. This is especially important for children since it helps their brains function at a higher cognitive level. Third, reading books extends the attention span and helps us to concentrate. When we are surfing the Internet or watching TV, we tend to become aimless. Switching channels or changing web pages frequently, we seldom focus on information worth watching or reading. The nature of such media distracts our attention. However, books can just make up for this by giving us opportunities to focus on limited information and think deeply.
    In conclusion, although books, as a traditional means of acquiring information, are usually associated with dedication and discipline. It is worthwhile for people, especially children, to retrieve the habit of reading books.
