of jargon and symbols that adults find hard to understand. Although educators and
politicians were once most concerned about concise pronunciation, it seems that
"e-mail English" poses a greater threat to the language. For example, the symbol : -( 【M1】______
represents a sad face and is widely used to signifying sympathy, disappointment or bad 【M2】______
news. The symbols have evolved to keep up the cost of mobile phone text messages 【M3】______
and e-mailing, and speed up the response time. Teachers say that the new shorthand
style associating with e-mails is making their job of improving literacy skills 【M4】______
even hard. Robin Lauffer, who conducted the research, said that symbols used in 【M5】______

communication revolution which children have adapted very quickly. Our language 【M6】______
is changing in the front of our eyes. " Other experts said that dropping grammar 【M7】______
and replacing sentence with abbreviations will damage the language. Ms Lauffer added: 【M8】______
"Kids have always had some coded language of their own what separated them from 【M9】______
grown-ups, but the Internet and mobile phones have given the ability to do this much
more. Writing a longhand letter is going to have to be something that is taught at school
and, while they will know how to do this, the question is, will they want to?" 【M10】______ [br] 【M1】
