I envy not in any moods
The captive void of noble rage,
The linnet born within the cage,
That never knew the summer woods.
I envy not the beast that takes,
His license in the field of time,
Unfetterd by the sense of crime,
To whom a conscience never wakes.
You should write between 180 and 200 words. Now write the essay on the answer sheet.

答案     Through this little poem, the poet states that he does not envy the caged birds which have comfortable life but no freedom and he doesn’t envy the beasts who have absolute freedom but without any conscience of crime. Obviously, the poet has got his balance between freedom and rules.
Freedom and rules are two interactive conceptions. Freedom means the right to do what you want without being controlled or restricted by anyone. Every one longs for freedom, but absolute freedom leads to chaos. For example, suppose we don’t obey the traffic rules and have a crash, we not only get hurt ourselves but also violate other people. So we also need rules to keep order in society. Rules are the instructions that say how things must be done or what is allowed and what is not. Freedom can exist only in and through the rules, and must be increased by all the healthy growth of the latter.
All in all, we should exercise our freedom on the basis of respecting the others’. Only in this way can we enjoy it fully.
