Members of the opposite sex never gave each other clothes as gifts, not even a sweater, well maybe a necktie or a pair of gloves. Anything else was considered much too personal. Good book.  Nice wallet.  Nothing more intimate than that.  Young men and women certainly never took overnight trips to the beach or anywhere else, even with their steadies and the code word said, "don’t call him. He’s supposed to call you."
