Dear Jeff,
   A friend in need is a friend indeed.  That was what I felt when you promptly answered my request for financial assistance at a very critical moment--my father was in hospital and I was in great difficulty in paying my tuition. Though you well knew how reluctantly I put my difficulties before you, I was still afraid that I might be guilty of causing you too much inconvenience in letting me have the sum I so badly needed.
   Please accept my most cordial thanks for your timely help which will be engraved in my thankful mind. I promise I will return the sum of money before the end of this term.
