Finding a new job is not an easy thing to do. However, our economy is getting stronger, so now might be a good time to start looking for. If you think you have the skills and abilities that employers need, there are some things you should do to prepare for the job hunt.
First, don’t quit your current job until you are sure you have a new one lined up. The best time to look for a job is when you are currently employed. People who are unemployed and desperate (极度渴望的) for work sometimes make bad decisions in accepting a job offer. Consider job offers carefully. Will the new job be better than the one you are having now? What about the location? Will the commute to work be easy or difficult?
If a person doesn’t have good English skills, it’s important to work on fixing that as soon as possible. It takes the average person five years to learn English really well, but for people who have lived in our country for a few years already, it might take a little less time than that. Many cities offer free English classes through the public schools, or you can learn English online. You can take classes at night or on the weekend. Good English skills usually make it easier to find a job and move up to better positions within a company. [br] What advice does the author offer if a person’s English skills are not good enough?
选项
A、Looking for a private tutor.
B、Improving them as soon as possible.
C、Moving to an English speaking country.
D、Practicing their English with a native speaker.
答案
B
解析
细节推断题。由题干中的English skills are not good定位到第三段第一句。定位句提到,如果一个人没有好的英语技能,那么尽快解决这个问题是很重要的。选项B)Improving them as soon as possible是对定位句中fixing that as soon as possible的同义转述。由此可以确定B)“尽快提高英语水平”为本题的答案。
