    People were extremely astonished to learn the fact that a graduate student of Fu Dan University poisoned his roommate on purpose mainly because of the academic competition between them. It’s nothing but the result of despising moral education.
    With the growth of school bullying and even campus murder cases, the role of moral education should be highlighted in our education system. There is a far-sighted saying that "To educate a person in the mind but not in morals is to educate a menace to society." I think there is much truth in this saying. The schools’ mission should be the development of both the intellectual and the moral virtues. However as we are continuing to narrowly pay our attention to the academic education and ignore the moral education, it’s likely to lead to more tragedies mentioned above.
    Children need the care and guidance of adults in their teens and often beyond. They also need to learn how to live harmoniously in society. With the help of moral education the young will acquire the virtues or moral habits that will assist them to individually live good lives and at the same time to become productive, contributing members of the society.
