答案 Nowadays, reference books ranging from textbook comprehension to extracurricular exercise are available in book stores large and small. Students rush to buy them in the hope of making their study more effective. But are their hopes on solid ground?
Some people believe that reference books can definitely make study more effective. They argue that reference books can not only reinforce what they have learnt from textbooks but also extend their knowledge range. However, some others hold a different view. On the one hand, reference books can distract students from textbooks especially when they buy more than one without thorough comparison. As a result, they may fail to make adequate commitment to textbooks which aim to lay a solid foundation for their study. On the other hand, the quality of reference books can’t be guaranteed. Students usually have difficulties in choosing the one that really suits them. What’s worse, they may even end up receiving wrong information.
From my perspective, a quality reference book can make students’ study more effective while a poor one can have negative effects. Thus, if carefully chosen and controlled to a certain amount, reference books are beneficial. Otherwise, negative effects may present themselves.
