答案     Seen from the statistics given above, it can be concluded that there will be a steady growth of the world middle class population over the coming 20 years, with 1.845 billion in 2009 and 4.884 billion in 2030. With regard to different regions, the most dramatic increase appears in the Asia-Pacific region—from 0.525 billion to 3.228 billion, followed by three other regions.
    It is no wonder that nearly two-thirds of the global middle class reside in the Asia-Pacific region by 2030. There is a larger population in this area, with China and India ranking the first and second respectively in the world population. More wealth is being created in Asia and it is being created faster than anywhere else in the world. According to Human Development Report 2013, by 2020 the total economic output of China, India and Brazil is expected to exceed that of the six northern industrial powers including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Britain and the US.
    In conclusion, because of the rapid economic growth rate and the fact that a significant share of the population is now close to the lower-bound threshold of middle class, the middle class in the South is projected to continue to grow.
