Soccer star David Beckham and his wife Victoria are suing their former babysitter who told Britain’ s newspaper News of the World that the couple’ s marriage is in danger.
    Lawyers for the Beckhams argue that babysitter Anne Gibson’ s contract included a promise not to speak about the couple’ s private lives. Gibson quit her job earlier this month after working for the couple since October of 2003. The Beckhams are already suing News of the World over the publication last year of details of the so-called affair between David Beckham and his personal assistant Rebecca Loos. A Beckham spokeswoman said the couple plans to file suit over this story as well. But the newspaper said a high court judge ruled in its favor on grounds that the story was in the public interest, a sentiment shared by Public Relations manager Robert K.
    "The media report is from a viewpoint of creating photo opportunities but not fueling the fire. Attack leads to a cornered animal, and so, of course the media are going to make mistakes, because they are in an impossible position. They’ re damned if they report, they’ re damned if they don’ t."
