I’m still living in my old room in my own house. Although I’ve finished my education a long time ago, my room still gives an impression of a student’s room. One piece of furniture that I own is a large wooden bookshelf where I keep all of my books.
I’ve had this wooden bookshelf for the last 18 years. My parents bought it for me. They thought my room was a mess because my books and other stuff just scattered all over the place. As a result, they bought me this bookshelf, hoping that I might keep my room shipshape. Initially, I only had a few books, so most of the shelf remained empty. But my book collection has been increasing over time and the bookshelf is now almost full.
There’re 6 layers of this wooden bookshelf and its front is made of glass. I now have a system to organise my books. On the top of the shelf, I put my comic books. That might prevent me from wanting to read them too often because to reach them I’ve got to use a stool. It’s just too troublesome. And I placed my favourite books such as world classics and poetry in the middle. And at the bottom of the shelf I put academic books and other stuff.
Although now I can afford a new bookshelf that is even larger, I still keep this old piece of furniture because this is the first thing my parents ever bought for me. So, it means a great deal to me. And it’s still useful for me. I can still use it to keep my books organized or other valuable documents secured. Also, it matches the design and colours of other furniture in the room. So I’d like to keep it.
