Student A Hey Judy, how’s everything going?
Student B Hi, Mark. Uh, a little bad, I guess. I’ve run out of money these days!
Student A Yeah? Hah-hah... It seems that you’ve got lots of businesses to invest in?
Student B Yah, no kidding! Last month, I paid the rent for the coming half year for my apartment, and bought piles of books, CDs and lots of clothes... Well, I’ve really gotten drained. And the tuition fee is coming, even higher than last year... I’m wondering how I’ll feed myself next week... God!
Student A Wow, that sounds really miserable...but it seems like you haven’t made yourself a good budget, hah-hah...Well, you shouldn’t buy too many things at once, yeah? You know, both the rent and the tuition fee at once.
Student B Yeah, you’re right. But what’s most urgent is how to avoid starving next month...
Student A Poor baby. Could you resort to your parents, or any relatives? For some subsidy?
Student B Oh, no! That’s no good. I don’t want to let them know my poor situation.
Student A Well, maybe you can think about finding a part-time job and earning some pay. You know, there’re often some ads for temporary workers on the school BBS. See if there’s any job you can do...
Student B Umm, sounds like a good idea! But I’ve never done any part-time job. You got any suggestion or experience?
Student A Well, I was once a waiter in a restaurant. During the weekdays, I just worked for three hours a day from 7:00 to 10:00 in the evening, but on weekends, a little longer, five hours, 3: 00 to 5: 00 in the afternoon and 7: 00 to 10: 00 in the evening. Sometimes I felt tired, but that was still OK for me at that time, ’cause I didn’t have much schoolwork to do. But you can also think about other jobs such as shop assistant or library assistant... there are many things you can do, I think, just go and see the BBS.
Student B OK, thanks a million! Hopefully, I won’t starve next month. Hah-hah...
