You may begin to prepare your response after the beep. Please begin your response after the beep.
Please Listen Carefully.
Now listen to a conversation between two students.
Student A Dennis! How goes it? I haven’t seen you around lately.
Student B Yeah, I’ve kind of been laying low.
Student A Is everything ok?
Student B Not really. Ever since Nicole broke up with me. I’ve been a bit of a weak. My life feels so disorganized.
Student A I’m sorry to hear that. Are things getting any better?
Student B No. They just seem to be going from bad to worse. And to top it all off, we have our big exams this month.
Student A Tell me about it. I’m so worried about them that I can hardly sleep at night.
Student B I wish I could say the same. I feel like sleeping all the time. I can’t concentrate on my studies at all.
Student A It sounds like you’re pretty stressed, my friend.
Student B Probably. I have a lot on my plate right now, but what can I do about it?
Student A I’m taking a psychology class, and my professor said the key to coping with stress is knowing when you’re experiencing it. Then, you can take steps to calm yourself down.
Student B That’s easier said than done. How can I calm myself down when I feel so worried all the time?
Student A One way to control stress is to find a quiet, comfortable place to relax. Then, for two minutes, clear your mind of thoughts and breathe deeply.
Student B I suppose I could try that. But I doubt it will work. I can’t do anything right these days.
Student A You probably aren’t as helpless as you think. Isn’t there anything in your life you can change?
Student B I’m taking a math class that I don’t really need. Maybe I should give it up.
Student A That’s the idea. Keep things as simple as possible. No one can do everything, you know.
Student B That’s true. Also, instead of worrying about all the things I have to do, I should just focus on one thing at a time.

答案     In my opinion, the sake of most ordinary people who accomplish great deeds in their lives does not originate from what the statement maintains. In their minds, interest, wealth, reputation etc. seem to be more important than the interest of the country and of the whole of humanity. However, some great celebrities such as Mother Teresa achieved much for and made great contributions to their country and to humanity. Mother Teresa, born in Albania, gave up comforts of her motherland to help people who needed it. For example, she set up the Missionaries of Charity Order and served selflessly for the poor and homeless. She left the comforts of her convent and brought food, medications and hope to the hungry and dying and to the deserted orphan children in Calcutta of India. She even died in the service of humanity. However, her efforts paid off and she got the Nobel Prize for her great contributions to the mankind.
